Health Part 2
August 11th, 2008Health Part 2
Since you are God’s temple, you must treat your body well.(1 Cor. 3:16 & 17)
Some people take more time washing, shining and caring for their car or motor cycle than the care for their bodies. These topics are the most common problems around the world that people ask for help on. During the seminar daily there are messages and question and answer periods over these topics. In this lesson we just summarize 8 of these in a brief sketch. (Hypertension, Liver function, Acne, Diabetes, Kidney stones, Hypoglycemia, Coughing & asthma, infections, ulcers, and snake bites)
HYPERTENSION
Their life style causes the blood pressure to rise. With the increase in pressure, there is damage to the organs of the body. For example, MRI studies show that prolonged hypertension results in a shrinking of the brain. There are foods one can eat and foods to avoid which, along with following the 8 health principles described in the last lesson, can reduce blood pressure without even taking medications. Eating Quaker oatmeal, spinach (Fr. Epinard, Spanish: Espinacha), and many fruits and vegetables assists in lowering blood cholesterol. Reduce or eliminate foods with saturated fats, salt, cheese, etc. Regular exercise is extremely important.
LIVER FUNCTION
Many with compromised liver function due to, hepatitis, cirrhosis, gallbladder disorders, and malaria, can be helped by natural means. There are foods one can eat to assist the liver in its function. Besides eating these foods, and discarding foods and alcohol which harm liver function, one can do the eight health principles described in the last lesson. Eating olives can help the gall bladder function. Artichokes are useful in stimulating liver function. Grapes activate the detoxifying function of the liver. Grape juice is helpful during cirrhosis and ascites which is due to portal hypertension. Eating Radishes will result in helping the gallbladder in its drainage. The following foods must be eliminated:
Eliminate and Avoid: Alcoholic Beverages, Meat, Cured cheeses, DAIRY, Coffee,
Saturated fats
ACNE
This is the hypertrophy and infection of the skin’s sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum, an oil that protects the skin. When the follicles of these glands are obstructed, which may result from a variety of causes, the sebum accumulates within the glands swell. Since the sebum cannot flow properly, the glands become infected and inflamed, producing pustular eruptions typical of acne.
This disease manifests itself most frequently during adolescence. These are its causal factors:
• Genetics
• Hormones, particularly the androgens responsible for masculinization
• Emotional stress
A diet that is poor in fruit, nuts, grains, legumes, vegetables, and rich in refined products, animal fats, and additives. A typical diet based on hamburgers, french fries, and ice-cream or sweets is an example of a diet that promotes acne.
Solutions: Increase these: Fruit, Vegetables, Whole grains, Soy, Vitamin E (avocado)
Reduce or eliminate these: Sugars, Refined baked goods, Saturated fats, Milk,Chocolate, Salt, Potato chips
DIABETES
The so-called diabetes mellitus is a disorder of the metabolism of glucose. It is quite common in Western countries. In reality, this term includes two diseases whos common characteristic is elevated level of sugar in the blood:
• Type I
• Also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes. Due to a viral infection, a toxin, or an autoimmune reaction, all reinforced by a hereditary predisposition, the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas are destroyed. These diabetics tend to be thin and must receive insulin from infancy
• Type II
• Also called adult onset diabetes or non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Its causes are unknown, but it is exacerbated by a diet rich in sweets and refined products and poor in whole grains. Reference: Healthy Foods P. 276 (By Doctor
Recommendations: Foods that are recommended and advised against: Those foods recommended in this table contribute significantly to the control of diabetes and the avoidance of its complications. They should therefore be included in any dietetic plan established by a specialist. INCREASE THESE
Legumes, Vegetables, Whole grains, Fruit, Nuts, Artichoke, Celery, Avocado, Onion, Mushroom, Nopal, Potato, Wheat Germ
Diabetes: Since they are low in carbohydrates and are a good source of energy, hazelnuts are a good complement ot a diabetic diet.
Diabetics tolerate apples very well for 2 reasons
• A significant amount of their sugar is fructose, which does not require insulin to enter the cells:
• Second, pectin acts to regulate the release of sugars, allowing them into the bloodstream slowly and progressively
Reduce or eliminate these: Sugars, Refined baked goods, Saturated fat, Chocolate, Shellfish, Meat, Milk, Alcoholic beverages, Salt (reduced amounts)
HYPOGLYCEMIA
• Hypoglycemia
• This is a metabolic disorder caused by a drop in blood glucose level to a point below the minimum necessary for proper brain function (about 90 mg/100ml)
• It is manifested by weakness, a feeling of hunger, and nervousness. When this drop is serious, it may produce cold sweat, dizziness, palpitations, fainting, and even coma.
Eating a variety of whole grains plus olives and avocados assists the person with problems of hypoglycemia. Also eating early morning breakfast each morning with the quality and provisions as for a king. Eating at the same hours 3 times a day also promotes healthy regular function of the digestive system. Breakfast example:
*Whole grain of wheat in its berry form boiled on low heat for 1.2 hour.
*Vegetable like beets cooked
*Potato, sweet potato, or yam (baked or boiled)
*Fresh salad of lettuce, spinach, avocado, olives, with olive oil dressing,
ANEMIA:
CAUSES OF ANEMIA: Poor Diet, Hemorrhage, Parasites, Stomach or Intestinal bleeding.
The body works to remedy the problem by trying to make more red blood cells in the bone marrow. (center of the bone). In order to do this, it needs certain vitamins and minerals which are found in foods. It needs: B1, B2, B6, E, Copper, Iron, Protein, B12 Folates, or folic acid.
There is an excellent food with most of these elements. It is the beet. (FR: Betterave
Spanish: Remolacha) Eating boiled beets 3 times a week can assist in counteracting anemia. Drinking raw beet juice 50 to 100 ml, 20 minutes before meals twice daily can also help. This is a great benefit especially if the patient is not responding to iron treatment.
Another excellent food is the avocado. It is the richest fruit in iron, protein, and the B vitamins required for production of red blood cells.
A third food highly recommended for anemia therapy is spinach. (Fr. Epinard, Spanish: Espinacha)
KIDNEY STONES
Hazelnut (FR: NOISETTE: Spanish Aveliana)
Kidney stones: Dr. Valnet, a distinguished French phytotherapist, underscores the benefist of hazelnuts in preventing the formation of kidney stones. Making them a regular part of the diet of those suffering from renal lithiasis, particularly in cases of urate calculi, gives positive results. A handful of hazelnuts every morning gives good results.
HORCHATA: After soaking hazelnuts for 8 hours, they are mashed into a homogenous paste. This is then mixed with water (One glass of water for each 30 g of hazelnuts) and left to soak for an additional two hours. After this, it is strained through a fine sieve. This liquid thus prepared is hazelnut horchata.
COUGHING AND ASTHMA:
If the cough produces blood and or lasts longer than two weeks it is recommended that examination with xray and sputum tests be done to discover if there are chronic illnesses such as Tuberculosis, Cancer, Pneumoconiosis from asbestos and dust inhalation.
The inhalation of the vapor from boiling eucalyptus leaves brings quick relief to those suffering from coughing and wheezing. Also the inhalation from the vapor of a fresh cut onion stops the spasms in the lungs in five minutes.
The eucalyptus vapor opens the eustachian tube at the back of the throat so the inner ear can drain. Thus the vapor also assists problems of ear pain due to inner ear congestion and infection.
Simply place 30-50 leaves of any of the eucalyptus in a 2-3 quarts or liters of water. When it is boiling, drape a sheet over the head and container of eucalyptus and remain inside this tent for 45 minutes to an hour. Repeat this treatment daily till symptoms subside.
INFECTIONS
There is a substance that is a powerful agent in infections that few people realize. Lives are saved every day by this natural substance. In every hospital in America, this substance is on the shelf in the emergency room ready for urgent cases such as poisoning. It is placed in a glass of water and the patient is made to drink as much as they can. It counteracts most all poison if it is taken soon enough. It is charcoal.
Charcoal has the ability to adsorb toxins, bacteria, virus, and fungus onto its surface area and then it is excreted from the body after it passes through the digestive tract.
Charcoal also can adsorb from the exterior of the body. If it is in a fine powder and in a moist format, it can enter the pores of the skin and even work from the outside filtering the blood as it passes in the tiny capillaries under the skin.
In my experience of 23 years of doctoring, I have seen snake bite wounds respond rapidly. Also ulcers of the skin on the extremities, tooth abscesses, fever, tetanus, and diarrhea respond to the external application of charcoal in jungle clinics where there is no hospital available. I also have seen internal applications of charcoal help cases of ulcers, food poisoning, toxin ingestion, and fever.
Charcoal from the eucalyptus tree has the added benefits of the opening of pores to assist entrance of charcoal molecules. However, in cases of emergency, take any available charcoal and begin treatment. Cases such as snake bites may not permit time to obtain eucalyptus charcoal. You can also use the water from the eucalyptus leaves to moisten the charcoal for therapy.
Virtually any eye infection can be treated with a moist cloth with charcoal powder on it. Have the patient close the eyes and lay the moist cloth with charcoal over the eyes. Have them keep it there an hour and after treating severe infections 7 days, there will be remarkable improvement. One can even save the eyesight.
These are a few of the notes from the Follow the Lamb Seminar Health messages presented with each Sanctuary program.
Lesson 10 Altar of Sacrifice & Salt
August 11th, 2008Lesson 10 Altar of Sacrifice & Salt
Text: Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death…
Text: John 3:16 God so loved the world, He gave His only Son…
ALTAR OF SACRIFICE
The altar was located in the court and was surrounded by white curtains. The white is a symbol of the perfect life of Jesus. It is a promise that your sinful life can be made white by belief in what Jesus did on the cross. (Isaiah 1:18) Your sins can become white as snow. It is the miracle only Jesus can do.
FIRE: Where did the fire come from that was used at the altar of sacrifice? Leviticus 6:12-13. The fire was never to be put out. It was sacredly cherished and kept burning. It was used in the holy room at the altar of incense and at the candlestick. This continual burning shows a constant work of God the Holy Spirit.
WHO KILLED THE LAMB? Who was the one responsible for killing the lamb sin offering? The sinner
“The priest could not himself become and offering for sin, and make an atonement with his life, for he was also a sinner. Therefore, instead of suffering death himself, he killed a lamb without blemish; the penalty of sin was transferred to the innocent beast, which became his immediate substitute, and typified the perfect offering of Jesus…” 1 SM 230 (Selected Messages)
BLOOD: What has to be shed for sin to be taken away? Hebrews 9:21-22; Hebrews 13:20,21; In every bleeding sacrifice was typified “The Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” John 1:29 “through the blood of Christ alone is there forgiveness of sins.” Amazing Grace 155
ASHES: Where were the ashes and blood placed in the outer court?
Leviticus 1:16; Hebrews 12:29; Lev. 6:10
HORNS: What do the horns on this altar signify? Luke 1:69; 2 Samuel 22:3; Psalms 18:2
BRASS: What does the color brass of this furniture and the laver signify? John 3:14-16; Acts of the Apostles 226
“Even the manner of His death has been shadowed forth.”
SERPENT ON A POLE: “When the people of Israel were dying from the sting of the fiery serpents, God directed Moses to
make a serpent of brass, and placed it on high in the midst of the congregation…It was a symbol of Christ. As the image made in the likeness of the destroying serpents was lifted up for their healing, so One made “in the likeness of sinful flesh” was to be their Redeemer. Romans 8:31. They were to look and live.” Desire of Ages 174
ALTAR COVERING OF PURPLE CLOTH: What was the meaning of this symbol of purple on the altar? (Numbers 4:13 & 14; Mark 15:17-20; Mathew 27:27-31; Luke 23:11)
Purple was associated with royalty and they were scorning Jesus as king. He is king of the whole universe and they spit on Him and cursed Him. Satan did all possible to stop Jesus from setting us free from the dominion and bondage of Satan’s rule. I do not understand why He stayed with His plan to help us. Humanly, we all would be tempted to discard efforts to help people who abuse us. We get anger and hate and want justice and destruction of offenders. But Jesus, our example continued to make effort to help. Such love is beyond my comprehension. I want to have it and reach for those He has created but are in bondage to Satan. I admire this amazing love and mercy in the heart of God for abusers who are so full of violence. His justice is mixed with mercy. He can take the most hardened criminal and make them safe to save in heaven. He alone can do this miracle but He uses us to reach them with our human voice and hand.
CROWN: On the altar there is a crown. It is a symbol of victory and righteousness (2 Timothy 4:6-8 but there is more.
*Crown of glory (Acts of Apostles p. 525)
*Crown of sacrifice. “All who follow Christ will wear it, and will be misunderstood by selfish men, and will be a mark for the fierce assaults of Satan.” DA 223
SALT: What does the salt represent? It had to be on each sacrifice. Mathew 5:13-16; 2 Kings 2:21; Romans 12:1;
You are the salt, a savor of Divine love.
Salt was added to every sacrifice. This, like the offering of incense, signified that only the righteousness of Christ could make the service acceptable to God…there will be no rivalry, no self-seeking, no desire for the highest place. You will have that love which seeks not her own, but another’s wealth.” Desire of Ages 439
“they may become agents in saving others…” Conflict and Courage 224
“So the Christian is to abide among men, that the savor of divine love may be as salt to preserve the world from corruption.” Counsels to Parents, Teachers and Students p. 323; Desire of Ages 306
“Salt must be mingled with the substance to which it is added; it must penetrate and infuse in order to preserve. So it is through personal contact and association that men are reached by the saving power of the gospel. We are not saved in masses, but as individuals. Personal influence is a power. We must come close to those whom we desire to benefit.” Thoughts from the Mount of blessings p. 59
OFFERING TO BE WITHOUT BLEMISH: Jesus the lamb. He was a “Lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1:19, Desire of Ages 50, Isaiah 53. He was “Physically as well as spiritually, an example of what God designed all humanity to be through obedience to His laws.” Desire of Ages 50. In the ram provided in the place of Isaac, Abraham saw a symbol of Him who was to die for the sins of men. Desire of Ages 112
He was “as a lamb to the slaughter,” “the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all” Isaiah 53:6 & 7.
Examples of common fire: Dominating Spirit, impoliteness, Careless words, raising money for God’s work by entertaining concerts or banquets, using excitement to draw attention to God’s Word like drama.
RAINBOW: While Noah was sacrificing at His altar after coming out of the ark when the flood was over, God created a symbol for all generations. (Genesis 9:11-16, Amazing Grace 132
“This token of a covenant between me and the earth…And the bow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.” AG 132
Rainbow references:
“Symbol of grace and love.” LDE 240, 5T 751
“It is an assurance to us of strength and protection as long as the throne itself shall endure.” DA 493
The rainbow spanning the heavens with its arch of light is a token of the “everlasting covenant between God and every living creature.” Gen. 9:26.
It is “an emblem of divine mercy.” Ed 177
“The rainbow about the throne is an assurance that God is true…The honor of His throne is staked for the fulfillment of His Word to us.” FLB 42.5
“…in the rainbow of the covenant a blessed assurance of acceptance with the Father as long as the throne endures. 2 MCP 462
“…Put your hand in the hand of Christ…angels that excel in strength will cooperate with the people of God. 2 MCP 462
ALTAR OF SACRIFICE APPLICATIONS TO OUR LIVES
- “At the altar of self-sacrifice- the appointed place of meeting between God and the soul—we receive from the hand of God the celestial torch which searches the heart, revealing the need of an abiding Christ.” Review and Herald, Jan. 31, 1907 “A portion of the blood of the sacrifice was sprinkled upon the altar. This signified that the people had consecrated themselves—body, mind, and soul—to God. A portion was sprinkled upon the people. This signified that through the sprinkled blood of Christ, God graciously accepted them as His special treasure. Thus Israelites entered into solemn covenant with God.” MS 126, 1901
- We are to lay our offering on the altar: at the feet of Jesus
- “None will enter heaven without making a sacrifice. They should cherish a spirit of sacrifice and self-denial. Some have not sacrificed themselves, their own bodies, on the altar of God. They indulge in hasty, fitful temper, and gratify their appetites, and attend to their own self-interest, regardless of the cause of God. Those who are willing to make any sacrifice for eternal life, will have it. And it will be worth suffering for, worth crucifying self for, and sacrificing every idol for.” 4b Spiritual Gifts p. 13
- If you bring any gift to the altar and remember some anger or hate towards someone, you must stop the plan, and go make things right. But what if there is someone angry against you and accusing you? What did Jesus say? “If thou bring thy gift to the altar, and remember that your brother has something against thee, what should you do? Mathew 5:23 & 24
- By making entire surrender, Abraham was able to understand the sacrifice jesus would make on the cross. The altar represents this action of Jesus. It actually also represents Jesus. Abraham was asked to slay his only cherished son of his old ages. During the agony of carrying out God’s command he learned how difficult it was for God in heaven to allow Jesus to die for us. Abraham understood the answer to the question: “Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil?” Micah 6: 6 & 7
- What greater proof of love could the Infinite One give us of His divine love and pity for sinners? Romans 8:32.
- Are we willing to make any sacrifice? Are we willing to follow Jesus even if we are laughed at or scorned or even abused?
SALT: STORY
A woman had a huband who was at first noble and successful. Alcohol habits destroyed him and he began to beat her. Every night he arrived home drunk at 2AM. He beat on his wife till she awoke and then he demanded she fix him a meal. She smiled, fixed her hair, put on her pretiest dress and fixed his favorite meals. She did not just warm up some left over food, she baked beautiful items, fixed them with color and art fit for a king. She fixed the table with flowers and a beautiful cloth. She carefully arranged his dish with fork and spook and knife and a cloth for wiping his face. She actually made it look like a king was to eat there. He did nothing for her happiness. When it rained, the water came into her kitchen and destroyed many of her pretty things. She did not focus on his lack of help but on what she could do.
She even made pastry and delightful treats.
Every day she endured his beatings with a smile and actually went about her work with singing.
One day, he brought home some friend who was also drunk. Yet when this man saw the kind wife doing her work of preparing food for them, he was so ashamed, he left before it was ready.
When she entered the room as usual to invite her husband to eat, she found him crying. She wondered why. He told her in a form of questions. He asked why she was so kind to him. He did not deserve any favors. Why did she continually treat him with respect when he was such a dirty man covered with vomit. He asked why she did not become angry when beaten.
She smiled and said it was because she loved him.
She told him that she was planning to go to heaven when Jesus came. She could tell that he was not preparing at all. It troubled her so much, she had decided to give him the only heaven he was going to get. She designed her program in the home to be a taste of heaven. He was so moved by her testimony of love, that he gave his heart to Jesus and was baptized. He left his old habits of drinking alcohol and lived a clean helpful life of service to God.
THE SALT OF HER LOVE WON HIM.
IT IS THE ONLY AND BEST WEAPON OF EVERY CHRISTIAN.
Lesson 11 Coverings & Porting Instructions and Significance
August 11th, 2008Lesson 11 Coverings & Porting Instructions and Significance ARK COVERINGS: What did God instruct the priests to do when it was time to move the sanctuary? Numbers 4:5 1. Red blue purple curtain vail covered the ark first 2. Next animal skin of badger (verse 6) 3. Last was the blue cloth (Verse 6) Symbol of ten commandments- see symbols key lesson How was the ark to be ported? Numbers 4:6 TABLE OF SHEWBREAD: What were the assigned coverings and mode of porting for the table? Numbers 4:7 • Spread a cloth of blue and put on the dishes and cover it and the bread • Next was a cloth of scarlet (blood of Jesus symbol) • Finally cover with badger’s skins How was the table to be ported? Numbers 4:8 CANDLESTICK: What were the assigned coverings and mode of porting for the lamp? Numbers 4:9 • Blue cloth to cover (Verse 9)(symbol of the ten commandment law) Isaiah 8:20 To the law and the testimony, if they speak not according to this, there is no light in them. • Finally Badger skins covered (verse 10) • It was to be ported on a bar (Numbers 4:10) GOLDEN ALTAR: (also known as Altar of Incense): What were the assigned coverings and mode of porting? Numbers 4:11 • Blue cloth • Badgers’ skins • Port with rods ALL INSTRUMENTS OF MINISTRY: How were the items like censers and tongs etc. to be transported? • Wrap in blue cloth(Numbers 4:12) • Cover with badger’s skins • Port on a bar ALTAR OF SACRIFICE: What instructions were given for the brass altar of sacrifice? Numbers 4:13 • purple cloth was the covering after ashes were removed. • Next all ministering vessels such as censers, flesh hooks, shovels, basins and vessels were put on it • Finally it was covered with badger skins • Porting was by rods PURPLE CLOTH: What was the covering used to scorn Jesus in Herod’s judgment court? This old dirty discarded robe of royalty was used to mock Him as king of the Jews. Here is another silent prophecy in the sanctuary. It was missed. No one caught this symbol. All were surprised at how He died. How many other prophecies have we missed regarding the end of this whole plan of saving mankind? If we are following all the light we have, God has promised to make us wise for the end of time as is described by Daniel in chapter 12. When the time has come, all we need will be understood if we are studying to know His will. The altar of sacrifice is a symbol of this great process by which Jesus unveiled the hatred of the fallen angel Satan. Jesus took our sins and punishment on Himself. The royal color of purple shows His mercy and how, through belief the sacrifice of Jesus He can make us adopted sons and daughters. (John 3:16) We can become royal family members by asking forgiveness for sin, putting away the worldly things and following Jesus the Lamb. Thus, the purple cloth was a prophecy and promise. It was a symbol of royalty and mercy. It prophesied of the mocking and rejection of the King of the Universe. His sacrifice was not understood. STORY: Uzzah COVERING AND PORTING LESSON What were the Divine directions regarding covering and porting of the ark? Did it really matter how it was carried? Why was there a death when it was done wrong? If we are seeking to honor God, is it right to do it however we please? (Numbers 4:15, Numbers 7:5-9) David was aglow with holy zeal. The ark was brought out of the house of Abinadab and placed upon a new cart drawn by oxen, while two of the sons of Abinadab attended it. PP 704 (Patriarchs and Prophets) When Uzzah died, David questioned the justice of God. They had been seeking to honor God. David was greatly alarmed and astonished. Why was such a fearful judgment given? They were trying to honor God. They had violated a most explicit command. Through Moses the Lord had given special instruction concerning the transportation of the ark. None but the priests, the descendants of Aaron, were to touch it, or even to look upon it uncovered. Numbers 4:15 showed the divine directions. Kohathites were to carry it but only after it was covered. The sons of Aaron, Levite priests were to cover the ark. Then it was to be lifted by poles which were placed in rings on each side of the ark. The poles were never removed from the ark. Uzzah knew the correct form of transport. He also had unconfessed sins on him and he dared to touch the ark. The judgment on uzzah caused David to search his heart as well as thousands of others. The ark was welcomed by Obed-edom. He rejoiced with trembling but welcomed the sacred symbol as the pledge of God’s favor to the obedient. Everyone watched his home to see what would happen to him. He was blessed. I asked the church in Goma of Democratic Republic of Congo to house the covered sanctuary four months for me while I went to another country to teach the same truths. With hesitancy, the pastor agreed. Several church members urged him to accept the honor and so they could have God’s blessing. I told them if the volcano blew up again, they would be sheltered for housing the ark. Just the next day as I left for Kalima with a load of Bibles, the plane taking off after us crashed and burned just 500 meters from the church. If the plane had been in the air a few seconds more, it would have involved the church. They are already struggling to rebuild from the damage of the volcano lava in the year of 2002. Did David learn a lesson? “Upon David the divine rebuke accomplished its work. He was led to realize as he had never realized before the sacredness of the law of God and the necessity of strict obedience.” After three months, he again called the chief men of the nation, and reverently the ark was placed on shoulders of men of divine appointment. With trembling and fear, they offered repentance sacrifices every six paces. The king humbled himself by taking off royal robes, and just wearing some white robe. He wanted people to adore the God of heaven, not David as their king. PP 706 (Patriarchs and Prophets) How does Uzzah’s death tragedy in the midst of a praise celebration apply to us? We may think we are showing God honor in our worship but instead we might be asking for His wrath. There are forms of music that God has strictly forbidden. There are rules of reverence in His sanctuary we must follow. These cannot be changed as we think of making things modern. Those who know what God says are obligated to speak out or they will be held guilty as was Uzzah. King David and all the people had glad and willing hearts. There was a tremendous music procession to show God honor. However, glad and willing hearts in doing something for God is not enough. It must be done the right way as He directs. There are so many lessons in this for our worship and methods of gospel outreach in the final days. Was David close to being right in using ox carts? Where did his confusion come from? What objects of the sanctuary were free to travel by ox cart? In Numbers 7: 5-8 To the Gershonites and Merarites, who had in charge the curtains and boards and pillars of the tabernacle, Moses gave covered wagon carts and oxen. (Patriarchs and Prophets 705) As we study the careful descriptions of Moses and see how David missed the point, we realize God is to be respected, adored and loved in a way much higher than is commonly done. The Lord is the Creator of all. His love and provisions to us are to bring gratitude and love in return. Our reverence is to be expressed in a manner much more polite and honorable than we would give the president of our own country. Lastly, His commandments are to be followed exactly. The Ten Commandments, kept in the ark, are the way He thinks and form the foundation of His government. This is the law by which all are judged. The next lessons deal with how to honor and obey Him. They show the meanings of His laws of government.
PILLAR OF CLOUD
August 11th, 2008PILLAR OF CLOUD
GOD WITH US
Over the tabernacle at all times, one could see the pillar of cloud by day and a fire by night. (Exodus 13:21-22; Ex. 14:19; Ex. 14:24; Numbers 12:5; Nu 14:14; Deuteronomy 31:15; Nehemiah 9:19)
What special help does God promise His people for the last days? Is. 4: 5&6 Pillar visual for last days
Cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory (shall be) a defense. ..a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.
STORM: literal and in the battle for souls
“In one of the most beautiful and comforting passages of Isaiah’s prophecy, reference is made to the pillar of cloud and of fire to represent God’s care for His people in the great final struggle with the powers of evil.” Patriarchs and Prophets 282 by EGW
“A pillar of cloud by day, a pillar of fire by night, is moving before us as before ancient Israel. It is the privilege of Christian parents today, as it was the privilege of God’s people of old, to bring their children with them to the Promised Land.” Child Guidance 565 by EGW
He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night. Ps. 105:39.
“The truth is our guide; it is to us like a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.” Conflict and Courage 91 by EGW
“Both the halt and the departure were marked by a solemn invocation. “It came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, ‘Rise up, Lord, and let Thine enemies be scattered…And when it rested, he said, ’Return, O Lord, unto the many thousands of Israel.’” Numbers 10:35,36 CSW 23
Ed.38.3 “Every chapter and every verse of the Bible is a communication from God to men…If studied and obeyed, it would lead God’s people, as the Israelites were led, by the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night.” AG 350 Abraham saw this pillar…”looking northward, saw the promised sign, a cloud of glory hovering over Mount Moriah, and he knew that the voice which had spoken to him was from heaven.” PP 151.3. Fire from heaven in response to Elijah’s prayer looked like the pillar of fire. “the descent of fire is clearly seen, and all are amazed at the sight. It resembles the pillar of fire which at the Red Sea separated the children of Israel from the Egyptian host. PK 152.4. Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire. Deut. 32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: 12 So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. 13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth. Ex. 24: 15-18 Moses enters the cloud. Others in camp saw it but turned for other gods. PP 317.3 KING SOLOMON and all with him at the dedication saw the cloud of glory. 2 Chron 7: 1-14 JOHN THE BAPTIST was promised a sign to recognize Jesus. He saw the dove and the glory about Jesus. “That sign was given as the heavenly DOVE rested upon Jesus, and the glory of God shone round about Him.” 1 Redemption 44,45 “His form was bathed in the light that ever surrounds the throne of God. His upturned face was glorified as they had never before seen the face of man.” DA 112.2 Luke 9:32 “While he thus spake, there came a cloud and overshadowed them”
Luke 9:34 last part says they “feared as they entered the cloud.” A voice came from the cloud announcing this was HIS beloved SON. For three hours a cloud of gloom hid this beloved SON as He hung on the cross. “vivid lightnings, unaccompanied by thunder occasionally flashed forth from the cloud, and revealed the cross and crucified Redeemer. “ The Present Truth, Feb. 4, The Sufferings of Christ par. 3

Lesson 13 Laver and Partnership Signals
August 11th, 2008Lesson 13 Laver and Partnership Signals
LAVER (BRONZE in color)
Cleansing Water: Washed and in Partnership with the King
Laver was created from brass mirrors of the women in the camp of Israel. Exodus 30:18-21 The priests must wash before going near to the altar and before entering the holy place, that they die not.
John 3:5 “…Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
“…be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.” Is. 52:11
Why did the shoes have to be removed to enter the holy place? Exodus 3:5; Genesis 28:16, 17; Habakkuk 2:20; (Reverence)
What is promised by the laver symbol? Cleansing. “No defilement must be left in our lives while approaching our Holy God. So the priests were not to enter the sanctuary with shoes upon their feet. Particles of dust cleaving to them would desecrate the holy place. They were to leave their shoes in the court before entering the sanctuary, and also to wash both their hands and their feet before ministering in the tabernacle or at the altar of burnt offering. Thus who was constantly taught the lesson that all defilement must be put away from those who would approach into the presence of God.” Patriarchs and Prophets 250.
What must I do to be saved? What can we do to obtain a closer relationship with Him?
Repent and be baptized. It can be done in private but also needs to be done in public before witnesses declaring your decision which side you plan to be on. Baptism is the public announcement of an inner decision and determination to follow Jesus. You pledge to turn from the world and follow all the light you have. Heaven’s promise to you is that the three Dignitaries of heaven: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit will attend the baptism and will help in any emergency in your future. References: 6T 98, Evangelism 316, 6BC 1074,1075,
“a …condition with which all must comply who wish to be acknowledged as under the authority of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.” They are promising to be separate and not to touch the unclean thing.
BIBLE BAPTISM
A symbol of death, burial, and resurrection from sin.
Mathew 28: 19 & 20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Mark 16:16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
John 3:5 Except a man be born of water and the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God
Ephesians 4:5 There is One Lord, one faith, one baptism
Mathew 3:13-17 Jesus was baptized as an adult in the Jordan
John 3:23 Biblical baptism takes much water
Mark 1:9, 10 Jesus went into and came up out of the water. He was fully immersed.
Acts 8:38 Both Philip and the eunuch entered the water. Philip baptized the eunuch by immersion.
Colossians 2:12 Burial with Christ through baptism
Romans 6:3-6 Baptism, a symbol of resurrection, represents death, burial and emergence to new life with Jesus.
Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized.
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved.
Acts 2:41 & 42 They gladly received His word and were baptized. They continued steadfastly.
1 Cor. 12:13 Baptism is into the body or church. See also Acts 2:46 & 47
Mathew 28:19 & 20 Jesus gave authority to baptize only to His disciple who taught each aspect of truth as He commanded it. He commissioned His disciples teaching all of His commands to baptize. AS the Holy Spirit impresses you are to be baptized, seek a Sabbath-keeping church teaching all the commandments and all the Bible teachings. If they leave anything out, if they speak not according to the law and the testimonies, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20
Acts. 22:13-16 Arise and be baptized and wash away your sins.
WASHING FEET
What happens if after baptism, we fall into sin? How shall we be clean? Jesus taught us what to do. He showed His disciples another kind of washing that is very similar to what the priests did in the tabernacle. Jesus washed the feet of His disciples and told them He wanted them to do this for each other. It would show that they were willing to serve each other and help each other toward heaven.
In Bible times, those walking with sandaled feet on dusty roads needed feet washed. Jesus took that opportunity when no one arranged for the feet to be washed. He did it Himself and then told them what it meant. Then He asked that this be done among the believers till He came back in the clouds. John 13:8-17
WATER OF LIFE: Jesus is the fountain of living water. Rev. 21:6, John 4:14, John 6:35
Bread shall be given him, his waters shall be sure. Is. 33:16
Righteous and their children do not need to beg for bread. Ps. 37:25 Prove me…I will open the windows of heaven and pour …blessings. Malachi 3:9-11 (sign of partnership: baptism & tithe and offerings)
In famine they shall be satisfied. Ps. 37:19
Phil 4:19 God will supply all needs.
Do you want this Partner? Do not rob Him. He does not need your money but the tithe and offerings is a sign that you trust your Partner. At any time you can break away and stop having His partnership but you lose out on too many blessings.
What does it mean to be born of the Spirit? (John 3:5); MYP 157 & 158
Wind is invisible. It is like that with the work of the Holy Spirit on the heart. You may not be able to trace all the process of conversion little by little impressions by reading or hearing…Suddenly with a more direct appeal the soul gladly surrenders to Jesus.

Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be. There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.”

And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, and in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. The LORD shall open unto thee His good treasure, the heaven to give rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:”

Ten Commandments are holy. The Holy Spirit uses it to point out sin and conviction comes.
1. 10 Commandments are like a mirror. You cannot see that your face is dirty without a mirror. We must take the Ten Commandment mirror, explain it’s meaning and help people to look into the mirror. That is our work as we share the gospel.
2. BLACK AND WHITE
3. STICK TO THE COMMANDMENTS NO MATTER WHAT. LIKE GECKOS who stick to the ceiling when they run, we must stick to the commandments.
WHAT HOPE IS THERE FOR THE SINNER WHO BREAKS THE LAW?
“All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“The wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23
“But the gift of God is eternal life.” Romans 6:23
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” I John 1:9-10
“For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.“ John 3:16
So “believe on the Lord, Jesus Christ and be saved.” Acts 16:31
“Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14: 1-3
Then add to your faith daily and climb the ladder of faith that Peter talks about. 2 Peter 1: 5-7
WHEN CONVICTED OF SIN
“Notwithstanding the defects of the people of God, Christ does not turn away from the objects of His care. He has the power to change their raiment. He removes the filthy garments; He places upon the repenting, believing ones His own robe of righteousness, and writes pardon against their names on the records of heaven. He confesses them as His before the heavenly universe.” Christ Object Lessons p. 169-170
Does the Ten Commandments apply differently from culture to culture? Is it not a sin to lie, cheat on wife, or kill in some cultures? In the Philippines, a young woman lied many times to us. When confronted about it, she said it was her culture. God’s culture is our goal. The Bible says that those who lie will not be in heaven. (Rev. 21:27) We must confess our sins so he can forgive (I John 1:9)
